An Adventure Started by Campfire Stories, Cold Ones, and Camaraderie

Two College Friends, Countless Adventures

Keegan and Michael met during their time at the University of Central Florida in the Reel Knights Fishing Club. A common love for hunting, fishing, and the St. John’s River formed a natural friendship, accelerated by shared leadership roles in the club and many hours spent planning on the River. Through the club, they formed lasting friendships and connections with students from all over the state of Florida and beyond.

One night, around a campfire on the bank of the St. John’s River, a decision was made from an idea that had been formed but not yet settled: the pair would set out to share their love for the River and all it has to offer. Michael and Keegan aim to put the abundance of hunting, fishing, and sightseeing opportunities within reach of all who hope to enjoy it, and take pride in introducing people of all ages and backgrounds to new outdoor experiences.

River Wranglers About Keegan

Keegan Murphy

Guide, Co-Owner

Born and raised on Anna Maria Island, Keegan’s life has revolved around hunting and fishing since the day he first picked up a fishing rod as a kid. Over the years, his love for hunting, fishing, and exploring wild places has grown into a love for sharing it.

Keegan’s love and passion for hunting and fishing can be attributed to his grandpa. He has been Keegan’s mentor and has taught him countless life lessons. When Keegan was just two years old he bought him his first shotgun. There are no words for what being there for his first deer and walking him through cleaning it, teaching him how to sharpen knifes, and telling him countless stories of his adventures has meant to Keegan. Without his grandpa, Keegan wouldn’t have the drive to be a guide and bring the joy of hunting into someone else’s life.

Keegan recently graduated from the University of Central Florida and balances his time as an accountant with time spent on the St. John’s River. While president of the Reel Knights Fishing Club, he used that position to grow the club, make new friends, and help introduce hunting and fishing to other students. Countless hours have been spent wandering these waters in chase of all they have to offer, and now he hopes to realize his goal of sharing this remarkable place.

He is a USCG-licensed Captain and has more than a decade under his belt operating boats of many different sizes.

Michael Martin

Photographer, Co-Owner

Michael was born and raised in Lake Mary, just minutes from the St. John’s River. He spent many childhood weekends in the woods with his dad, instilling a love for the outdoors at an early age. His true passion lies in bowhunting rutting whitetails and pursuing strutting gobblers, but in recent years, it has grown into much more, chasing a variety of big game, birds, and fresh- and salt-water fish on fly.

He recently graduated from UCF with a degree in Marketing and a minor in Communications, which he pairs with a love for photography and storytelling. His time in the Reel Knights introduced him to new friends and new opportunities. In his four years at UCF, Michael traveled to hunt in Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, and Arkansas, and spent more time hunting and fishing in his own backyard than ever.

With River Wrangler Outfitters, he hopes to share his hunting and angling pursuits with newcomers and seasoned outdoorsmen & women alike while capturing the experiences in photos along the way.
